- Gul Mohar, our flagship course for the teaching of English, is now in its TENTH EDITION. First published in 1974, it has gone past its golden jubilee, a rare feat in itself. Generations have learnt from Gul Mohar and have themselves gone on to teach Gul Mohar. Buzzword, Raintree and Magnolia are some of the other courses that have firmly established Orient BlackSwan at the forefront of English Language Teaching (ELT) in school education.

In the Social Sciences, Humanities and Indian Languages, we publish titles of general and academic interest. Our textbooks in the social sciences and humanities (in English and select Indian languages) are carefully prepared for the undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels, while our reference books, which are at the cutting edge of research, reflect ongoing academic discussions in these fields. Our trade books list includes literature translated from Indian languages into English.
- Our series such as New Perspectives in South Asian History, The Illustrated Classics, Literary/Cultural Theory and Literary Contexts represent the best of Indian publishing. The People’s Linguistic Survey of India series of volumes provide detailed information of the Scheduled and Non-Scheduled languages of India, as they currently exist in each state of the country. The Literature in Translation series offers in English translation the works of writers such as Volga, Des Raj Kali, M T Vasudevan Nair, Akkineni Kutumba Rao, Vaikom Mohammad Basheer, Mannu Bhandari, Baby Kamble, Anil Gharai, Ashokamitran and Kazi Nazrul Islam.
